Day 1: Morning departure from North Wales and travel to York. Encircled by city walls, York is one of England’s most historical cities and is dominated by its 1383-year-old Minster. Explore York’s twisting passageways known as the “Shambles” or visit the Railway Museum or Jorvik Centre. A good way of seeing the city is on a boat cruise on the River Ouse. Afterwards, we continue to our hotel in Harrogate for a 2-night stay.
Day 2: A full day at leisure in the spa town of Harrogate, characterised by Victorian and Edwardian buildings that tower above the pavements. Stroll around the tree lined avenues and beautiful gardens or explore the many shopping possibilities. Rest your legs with a cup of tea and a slice of cake at the famous Betty’s Café Tea Rooms.
Day 3: We depart the hotel after breakfast and travel to the pretty town of Hebden Bridge known for its artistic flair, with artisan shops, inspiring galleries, and charming houses. Hebden Bridge was also used extensively for the ‘Happy Valley’ television series. Take the opportunity to visit some of the filming locations dotted around the town.
Afterwards, we continue to The Piece Hall in Halifax. Standing at the heart of Halifax since 1779, the huge open-air courtyard is today surrounded by unique and boutique independent shops, bars, cafes and a restaurant. The stories of Georgian Halifax are told in the specially created exhibition spaces, while the central courtyard is a spectacular venue for a year-round events programme of live music, dance, film and spectacle.
We will depart mid-afternoon and make the return journey home to North Wales.
