Itinerary

Day 1: Depart North Wales and travel north to Scotland and our hotel in Strathpeffer for a 4-night stay. We will stop for lunch in Gretna Green and there will also be comfort stops at Chester and Stirling Services.

Day 2: Glen Moray Distillery Tour and Tasting & Inverness

This morning, we travel to the Glen Moray Distillery, situated on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin, where you can enjoy a guided tour and tasting. Glen Moray is a small authentic working distillery with bags of atmosphere and real people going about their business – making whisky.

We continue to Inverness, the cultural capital of the Highlands, where you can spend some time at leisure. Voted as one of the ‘50 Best Places to Travel in 2025’ by Travel + Leisure, explore this compact city and discover a slower way of life, but still with interesting things to do. See its 19th century Cathedral, stroll along the banks of the River Ness and browse the indoor Victorian Market.

Day 3: Loch Ness Centre & scenic Loch Ness Cruise

Our first stop today is the Loch Ness Centre – ‘The Real Home of the Loch Ness Story’. In this location, at the old Drumnadrochit Hotel, Mrs Aldie MacKay reported seeing a 'whale-like fish' or 'water beast' in the waters of Loch Ness. Her sighting sparked the birth of a monster media frenzy and created a global legend.

Walk through 500 million years of history. Delve deeper into ancient Scottish myths, legends and scientific research. Uncover the mysteries of the loch and become part of the story in this unique tour.

This afternoon, we embark on a Nessie hunting adventure as we take a scenic Loch Ness Cruise from Fort Augustus. Enjoy the breath-taking vista of Loch Ness in all its natural wonder. It is the perfect way to experience the stunning sights, wildlife and history of the famous loch, whilst on the lookout for the Loch Ness Monster.

Day 4: Strathspey Steam Railway & Aviemore

Today, we travel to Aviemore and board the Strathspey Steam Railway, a heritage steam railway that runs for 10 miles along heather covered moorland with the Cairngorm Mountains behind, for a return journey to Broomhill. Spend the afternoon at leisure in the beautiful mountain town of Aviemore, with sights reminiscent of a Swiss ski village.

Day 5: We depart the Scottish Highlands and make the return journey home. We will stop for lunch in Gretna Green and there will also be comfort stops at Stirling and Chester Services.
