Day 1 – Sunday 15 March 2026: Travel to Holyhead for the 9.00am ferry crossing to Dublin and then continue our journey north to our hotel in Donegal for a 4-night stay.
Day 2 – Monday 16 March 2026: Today we visit the walled city of Derry in Northern Ireland. Prosperity and peace have made this compact city, with its tumultuous history, one of the most fascinating to visit in the British Isles. Take the opportunity to walk its famous 17th century walls, stroll over the stunning new Peace Bridge, visit the city’s many fascinating museums, see the Neo-Gothic Guildhall and explore the city’s many shops.
Day 3 – Tuesday 17 March 2026 (St. Patrick’s Day): The day is free in Donegal to enjoy the events taking place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
This morning, take some time to explore Donegal. In the centre of town is the Diamond, an open pedestrian area surrounded by shops, cosy pubs, wonderful restaurants and delightful coffee shops. Donegal town centre is also known for a monument dedicated to the four authors of ‘The Annuals of the Four Masters’. Donegal Castle, the 15th century seat of the O’Donnell Chieftans and the remains of a Fransciscan Abbey sit in its delightful bay.
Donegal Town's St. Patrick's Day parade will take place at 3 pm. It's a lively family event featuring marching bands, local talent, and plenty of green as everyone comes together to honour St. Patrick. The parade brings the streets of Donegal alive with festive cheer, colourful floats, and traditional Irish music! A true celebration of Irish culture and community!
Day 4 – Wednesday 18 March 2026: Today enjoy a morning at leisure to recover from the previous day’s festivities. This afternoon we take a short excursion to the coastal town of Killybegs, with its shimmering waters and glorious coastline, this area is famous for its maritime culture. It is the largest fishing port on the island of Ireland. St. Catherine's Well, with its rich historical significance, is a stunning spot in town.
Day 5 – Thursday 19 March 2026: After a leisurely breakfast we depart our hotel and travel to Dublin for the 2.45pm return ferry crossing to Holyhead.
