Day 1: Travel to Scotland with a stop at The Famous Blacksmiths Shop Museum, situated at the heart of Gretna Green village. It is the world-famous, historic home of the anvil wedding and has been at the centre of runaway love, since the Marriage Act of 1754. Inside the museum, you can contemplate marriage certificates that date back to 1754, the original wedding room that has the traditional and popular anvil, old carriages, and replicas of wedding dresses (admission extra). After some time at leisure, we complete the journey to the Winnock Hotel for a 3-night stay. Enjoy dinner and Burns themed entertainment at the hotel this evening.
Day 2: A full day excursion to the Kingdom of Fife as we visit St Andrews, renowned for its golf and Scotland’s oldest university, the town also has a castle, cathedral and sandy beaches. The town is home to the University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English-speaking world and the oldest in Scotland. St Andrews is also known worldwide as the ‘home of golf’ this is because of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the famous St Andrews links golf course, the most frequent venue for The Open Championship.
This evening enjoy the highlight of the weekend as we celebrate Phil and Rose's Golden Wedding Anniversary in style with a fantastic evening of entertainment by the singer Dylan Morris and the comedian Dilwyn Morgan.
Day 3: Enjoy a full day in Edinburgh, Scotland’s historic capital city. Edinburgh is without doubt a fascinating place to visit. The medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town sit side by side, dotted with interesting visitor attractions such as the imposing castle, Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of the Monarch. Princes Street is home to city centre shopping, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafés to enjoy where you can sit and watch the world go by!
Tonight, enjoy dinner followed by a final evening of Burns themed entertainment at the hotel.
Day 4: Depart our hotel after breakfast and make the return journey home to North Wales. En-route we will visit the historic market town of Penrith, located in Cumbria’s Eden Valley close to the Scottish Borders.
