Itinerary

Day 1: Morning departure from North Wales and travel to our hotel in Bristol for a 3-night stay. The remainder of the day is free to do as you wish. The harbour side offers visitors a variety of attractions, such as Brunel’s SS Great Britain, once the largest passenger ship in the world. Another option would be to take the little ferry along the historic harbour.

Day 2: After breakfast we travel to Wells, England’s smallest city. With its cobbled streets, medieval architecture, compact historic centre, magnificent cathedral and unique moated Bishop’s Palace, there is plenty to see and do in this wonderful city. After some time at leisure, we return to our hotel, the remainder of the day is free in the city of Bristol.

Day 3: This morning we take a scenic steam train journey on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. The line commands wonderful views of sleepy hamlets and villages, with outstanding outlooks across to the Malvern Hills and beyond. We board the train in Cheltenham and travel through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cotswolds to Broadway, often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’. The pretty tree-lined High Street includes a mixture of period houses and picturesque honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottages. Enjoy some time at leisure in Broadway before we return to Bristol by coach.

Day 4: After breakfast we journey to the wonderful Roman city of Bath, a protected World Heritage Site, there’s free time to discover the city’s architectural wonders. A highlight is the world-famous Roman Baths, one of the city’s finest historic sites where you can walk on the ancient-cobbled pathways much as the Romans did 2,000 years ago (admission extra). You could also walk to the Grade I listed Pulteney Bridge. Completed by 1774, the bridge was designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style. It is exceptional for having shops built across its full span on both sides. We depart mid-afternoon for the return journey to North Wales.
