Day 1: Depart North Wales and travel to Eastbourne for a 4-night stay.
Day 2: Herstmonceux Castle and the Bluebell Railway - This morning we visit Herstmonceaux Castle, a 15th century moated castle sitting in a 300-acre estate that includes formal themed gardens and woodland. In the afternoon we take a relaxing ride on the Bluebell Railway for the 11-mile journey from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead.
Day 3: Discover Rye and Hastings - Today we travel along the coast to the fortified hilltop town of Rye. Once surrounded by sea, Rye played an important role in the defence of the south coast of England. There’s an opportunity to explore the enchanting cobbled streets, secret passages and beautifully preserved houses from Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times. In the afternoon we travel the short distance to Hastings, with more passages and narrow streets (called Twittens). A funicular railway takes you from the Old Town up to the castle ruins.
Day 4: Explore Eastbourne and the Surrounding Area - The last day of this short break is a free day and a chance to explore Eastbourne itself. Perhaps take a boat trip to Beachy Head, visit the Victorian Pier, or simply take it easy, watching the world go by on the Promenade, or in one of the many tea rooms.
Day 5: We depart our hotel and we make the return journey home to North Wales.
