Day 1: Travel
Depart North Wales and travel to our hotel near Norwich for a 2-night stay. There will be comfort stops enroute. Make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities before dinner this evening.
Day 2: Norwich & Thursford Christmas Spectacular
After breakfast we travel to Norwich city centre. The city centre has streets that still carry a lot of their medieval charm, including some remains of the ancient city walls and a wealth of historic buildings. The Norman Cathedral is one of the finest in England, with its magnificent Cloisters and Cathedral Close. The majestic Castle with its fine 12th century keep is prominently situated overlooking the city. All this contrasts with the modern including the state-of-the-art Forum, Riverside development, and the city's two shopping malls. This is all linked together with some of the most attractive streets in the country including many cobbled streets, alleys and lanes. Norwich also has some fine open spaces, including the wonderful Riverside walk and Chapelfield gardens. We return to the hotel for an early dinner.
This evening, we attend the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, 7.00pm performance. Walk into this winter wonderland with shimmering lights all around you, then sit back, relax and let the magic unfold. Against a backdrop of fairground organs and carousel horses, dancing teddy bears and showgirls combine in a shimmering Christmas extravaganza which includes a heady mix of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety.
Starring a cast of 130 professional singers, dancers and musicians, this fast-moving celebration of the festive season features an eclectic mix of songs, with nostalgic seasonal favourites being sung alongside chart toppers. The beautiful choir singing in the auditorium are guaranteed to send you shivers of delight. Whilst you are there why not enjoy the traditional ‘olde worlde’ on-site village of shops. We return to the hotel at the end of the performance.
Day 3: Coventry & travel home
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we board the coach and travel to the ancient city of Coventry, the UK City of Culture for 2021, known for the medieval Coventry Cathedral, which was left in ruins after a WWII bombing. A 20th-century replacement, with abstract stained glass, stands beside it. The collection at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum includes paintings of local heroine Lady Godiva. A statue of her, naked on horseback, is nearby. Enjoy the day in Coventry to do as you wish. After some time at leisure, we will complete our journey home to North Wales.
